Goldfish and koi normally spawn in the warming water of spring. If you want to help ensure survival of some of the baby fish, provide a place for the eggs as well as fry (baby fish) to hide from the larger fish. This can be the roots of plants like Water Hyacinth, soft filter material, or the Fish Spawning Basket.
